Peter and his twin brother attended Northern Illinois University where they earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance under a full-tuition scholarship. Following graduation, they pursued a Christian music ministry, performing as a duo-piano team featuring their own 2-piano arrangements of hymns and contemporary Christian music. They have performed in over a dozen states, and released a CD recording of their music entitled “Awesome God”. Their music has been broadcast nationally on the Moody radio network. They have won numerous awards, including first prize in the Richmond Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. They were selected as finalists in the prestigious Ellis National Duo-Piano Competition as well as the StarSong National New Artist Search. Their performances have been featured on South Carolina Public Television, TV38 in Chicago, and "The 700 Club" national TV program, and they have appeared as featured guest soloists with the Hilton Head Symphony, Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Youth Symphony, and the York River Symphony Orchestra. Peter’s music has also been heard on the BBN radio network.
My Professional Journey
Peter began playing piano at the age of eight along with his twin brother, Paul. Together, they pursued classical music and spent their teenage years playing duo-piano music together. During that time, Peter and his brother attended and performed at Interlochen National Music Camp, the Young Keyboard Artists Association's Summer Keyboard Institute, and the Hampden-Sydney Chamber Music Festival. Peter’s teachers have included Patricia Lotze, Vera Lendvay, Miles Mauney, and Donald Walker. He has participated in coaching sessions and masterclasses with such renowned concert artists as Karl Ulrich Schnabel, Theodore Lettvin, Barbara Lister-Sink , William Goldenberg, Edward Auer, Jane Allen, and the duo-piano team of Weekley and Arganbright.
During this time, they built and operated piano teaching businesses, providing individualized instruction collectively for up to 90-100 students per week.
After several years Peter and Paul went on to other career pursuits (Paul as a full-time worship pastor and Peter in the corporate world). Peter recently retired from senior management after a nearly 30 year professional corporate career in life insurance underwriting and operations. He has been married to his wife Lynn for 34 years and they currently reside in Indian Trail, NC.
Music has always remained close to Peter's heart. During his corporate career he released two recordings - An Act of Worship (hymns) and The Star (Christmas). Presently, he remains active arranging, performing, and recording solo piano music, as well as serving in church worship settings. He believes music is a heart language and as such, it carries a unique ability to help communicate the love of Jesus Christ.
